When you have changed your coolant the important thing is bleed the air as follows:

    1) fill with coolant to reservoir max level.

    2) before starting engine crack open bleed screw to let air out. When coolant begins to release from bleed screw gently tighten. Only gentle tightness is needed since plastic can strip.

    2) start engine let idle, now bleed air 2nd time in same method.

    3) with engine running, and you should have thermostat valve connected by the way, coolant should start to flow into top of jug as it circulates.

    4) as temp rises fan should switch on.

    5) turn off bike, let it sit 10 minutes. Now, with bike turned off bleed air a 3rd time as done before.

I think you have air in the system and thats why your coolant is not properly circulating. Also, you should have thermostat 3 way valve properly connected.

Thank you, bleed air from system as described (this is process recommended in service manual - bleed 3 times once before starting, while running, after you shut off). After all air is bled and with thermostat valve in place make sure you have coolant level between min and max and no leaks. If you still have overheating and no coolant circulation then suspect water pump.

Wow, very nice. Change all fluids including engine oil, filter w new oring, gear oil and important coolant. Important to bleed air from system but be very gentle with bleed screw as plastic housing can strip, only needs very slight tightening. Put on new drive belt also. Might want to get new rollers clean and regrease variator. Tires if 15 years old you need new ones. Flush and change brake fluid. Important, get new air filter element and oil it. Old one will disintegrate and clog carburetor with dried foam pieces. Valve adjustment and new spark plug. New battery. Good luck keep us posted.

    Ciao Carloeffe,

    Ciao da New York City.
